Color/sequence numbering

My company uses your software to input the designs after coloring the stitch file.

When we preview the .dst the numbers are not listed. We use this sheet to enter everything in our

system, without the numbers, it is difficult to make sure on designs with several needles. We have to count,

each time to make sure we have to color/ right needle to enter in our system.

I am a digitizer/production manager with over 30 years of experience with 6 different digitizing softwares, and they all have the number next to the color whenyou preview or print a copy.

Suggestion:

Can you please show the 'number' next to the color in the preview/print mode. It would make life so much easier, rather than having to count each time. I have to train people as well, and they always ask why the number isn't there next to the color.

Thanks for this suggestion! Just to get it right: You're referring to the thread list on the right side of the detail sheet, which is currently listing color names with a leading colored square (which is of little use for .DST files), correct? Your ask is to have these colors in a numbered list? A good suggestion (if I understood it correctly) and not difficult to implement. I'm currently working hard on the next version for iOS - and will probably take a break after its realease, but this item goes high on the feature list for macOS.

Are you aware that a design can be copied into the clipboard - as a graphic and text if no selection is active? Pasting into a text editor would give you a numbered list of threads … maybe a bypass in the meantime.

I wish I could paste my pic in here for you to see. I either have use my finger on the screen and count to make sure I am inputting my correct thread sequence into our system, because the number isn't next to the thread color box ( yes, on the right side of the screen where the thread color boxes are) when I look at the preview we just colored. Other wise we have to open the .dst which has the ' number', next to the thread color.

EXAMPLE:

Blue
Red
Blue
Green

Currently the boxes are:

Blue

Red

Blue

Green

When there are 20 sequences, you can see how transferring this information without knowing what number you are on can cause mistakes for us, and frankly it has. If you could add this you would be MY HERO! 🙂

Oh, you're referring to the app's window, while I thought about "printed" PDFs … good to have this clarified.

With regard to a picture: You might want to consult the article mentioned above, or just send an email to confirm we are aligned 🙂

No, not the app window. The .dst document. When it shows the preview of what the file is, the thread boxs are there,

in order, upper right, with no numbers beside them. Do you have an email I can send you a pic of what I am talking about?

The ".DST document" is not very specific, I assume you're referring to a PDF document, reflecting the design with its meta data, thread list, and created via the app's printing option? Please send some illustrating picture to info@stitchbuddy.de…

Edit: @lid535 Sorry for the confusion! Currently working with my iPhone, I just realised that the app window already includes thread numbers - as you mentioned. My bad … so we're talking PDF. Consider your feature request addressed by StitchBuddy's next release…

I just sent my example to your email address above. The .dst file is the most used file type that runs on various brands of machines. It is exported from any embroidery software. It also can be imported or opened with your software to see the sequence breakdown of the design. See my example. I appreciate your willingness to listen to user feedback.

Actually, StitchBuddy's code is already changed and the next releases will include leading thread numbers. While the iOS version will enter beta testing shortly, the next release for macOS will probably take some more time if I'm bundling the change with other improvements. But maybe I decide for an interims update…

Hey @lid535: I just submitted StitchBuddy v3.2.6 as an interims update for Apple's approval: With some extensive gardening the next weeks I won't be able to spend time on major app updates, and I don't want to keep you waiting for a rather small change…

The new version should be globally available in 1-2 days, depending on Apple's reaction time and distribution processes - and your Mac will automatically update if configured accordingly.

All of you, please report back any issue I might have missed in testing!

lid535 StitchBuddy HD (for iOS / iPadOS) has just reached its public beta testing: Depending on feedbacks I'd expect a release possibly end of April.

I cannot give a date for the next release of StitchBuddy for macOS, as probably I'll spend less time at my computer at spring and summer…

Well, I updated the iOS and macOS apps as well as the Automator action to create PDFs … but missed the Quick Look plugin. My bad!

Thanks @lid535 for reporting this issue and it will be fixed in some days time, together with the ruler problem mentioned by @coolcat.
