Hi All,
I have asked this before and Matthias has answered me, but I will post again here so that all on the forum can benefit if this pertains to what you might need from Stitch Buddy or enhance it.
I have Janome embroidery machines and they use JEF file formats to read embroidery files. However, the format has been upgraded over the past 15+ years to also use JEF+ and most recently JPX. JEF files were just one file as they only contained "stitch" information. The JEF+ and JPX also include background or picture information. The JEF+ is a simpler format, so it comes into Stitch Buddy just fine; ie: when I double click on the file in "Finder" it will open Stitch Buddy and pop onto the screen so that it can be seen somewhat larger than the little ICON. However, JPX does not. I'll let Matthias explain the JPEG part of it as I don't fully understand but I do get that Apple and Windows don't want to talk to each other on our Mac Computers. However, I can open the JPX files, once I have Stitch Buddy open and go to find the file in my Documents folder. I was just trying to get it to open without needing to go the "LONG WAY" around to get it open. It isn't a big deal, but sometimes inconvenient, when the computer goes into Parallels, opens Windows and then Hatch 3 another software I have to open and then it doesn't open there either, because of some other issue/problem. All this takes time and energy for me as all I want is to see the little ICON - I don't need the design to load anywhere in particular when I don't even know what the design actually looks like. I do have Artistic Digitizer and it can install on both Mac's and PC's with Windows, but Artistic Digitizer doesn't show up in the list of "Open with" when I right click on the file. So what I'm saying here is: that I have to have either Stitch Buddy or Artistic Digitizer open and then search for that file from the Documents folder first to even see what I'm looking at and do it ONE BY ONE. If you haven't guessed already, you know that I save as JEF only when I'm digitizing and saving a file. The issue is that my sewing machine saves in JPX and so does AD. In AD at least I have the option to "save as" and then use JEF as my option.
I really appreciate that you, Matthias in having helped me to understand a little of why I can't open the JPX files with that "double click" or that there isn't an ICON in my list in the Documents folder.
